The sign of Houghton and Wyton

The village sign is important for many reasons. It was erected from the proceeds of Philip G M Dickinson's book "Houghton and Wyton", without whose help, this website would be very small indeed.

It was unveiled by his grandson in 1989 and in its imagery, it highlights the aspects that make the villages special to those who are lucky enough to live here.

After many attempts to spruce it up, it is regrettably beginning to look a little lacklustre, so here I show the original version.

By placing your cursor over the sign, the relevance of that section of the montage will be revealed in the status bar below.

St Mary's Church, only Hemingford's church bells wake you earlier Yes, we have a RAF base. St Margaret's Church - is it someone's home? Work still seems to be going on - slowly!
That Clock Tower gets everywhere! The Mill really does have a working water wheel
Philip G M Dickinson, we salute you
